Second Design Contest in conjunction with MEMOCODE’ 2008
The second MEMOCODE Hardware/Software Co-Design Contest is organized by the MEMOCODE conference technical and steering committees to impart greater attention to the co-design issues encountered in practice. The contest also serves to showcase advances in co-design tools and methodologies. The reference implementation set by the Contest committees is Xilinx XUP board using ISE/EDK 9.2. But the participants are allowed to choose any alternative reference platform to implement the application.
A team from CHiPES, NTU comprising of graduate students, Aung Lin Yan, Chuong Lieu My, Chandrasekaran Sunita, Jin Cui, Linh Hoang Duong, Prakash Alok, Rajarathinam Mohan and Yupeng Chen participated in the Design Contest. The objective for 2008, Design Contest, was “Cryptosorter”. The aim was to sort an envrypted database of records as fast as possible. In this project, the team presented two solutions, one was using C language and HDL and the other was using C language and ImpulseC. A speedup of 41.1 and 11.0 was achieved respectively. The second solution C and ImpulseC won a place in the top-5 elegant design category.
